From Zero to $75 Million: The Terry O'Regan Story

Terry O'Regan takes the Hot Seat to share his journey from an Alaskan fishing boat to a $75 million medical device exit and why he's doing it all over again.
What does it take to build a transformational company? Terry O'Regan knows.
This week in the Hot Seat, Terry shares his incredible journey from working on an Alaskan fishing boat to selling a medical device company for $75 million and now building the next one from scratch.
From Bankruptcy to Exit
Terry's first business lesson came early: the company he worked for went bankrupt while he was on vacation. He realized he needed to control his own destiny "own the socket," as he puts it.
His big break came when he joined a company with a product nobody believed in. He proved them wrong by selling one unit then another, then another. Four years later, the company was generating $650,000 per month and was acquired for $75 million.
The Reset
After the acquisition, Terry joined the corporate parent and hated it. "No creativity. Everyone just checking a box." So he left to join another startup with zero sales. His new company, Curus Medical, treats SI joint dysfunction with a safer, faster, less invasive implant that costs $67 to make and sells for $8,000.
Doing It Again
In just three months, Terry grew Curus from zero to $100,000 per month and is on track for $2.3 million this year. His formula? Key opinion leaders, clinical data, and the right team.
Terry's Advice
Listen. Ask open-ended questions. People will tell you their problems.
Surround yourself with the right people. You are who you hang out with.
Create transformational, not transactional.
Just start. Terry began by selling one unit. Then another.
